How can a structure, in correlation with the local subsoil condition, be built in a safe, serviceable, and cost-effective manner? Are dewatering measures necessary? Are there any special requirements with regard to the construction process or the foundation? We examine these questions in a defined sequence beginning with an analysis program, continuing with a subsoil investigation and a description and evaluation of the subsoil, and culminating with foundation recommendations, all while taking into account the requirements of statics, soil, and the environment.
